On behalf of the Local Organising Committee I would like to invite you to participate in the 50th Annual Meeting of the EASD and welcome you to Vienna.
Vienna, the capital of Austria, is well known for its imperial history with a variety of palaces, theatres, museums, parks and avenues dating back to the last centuries. In addition, the heritage of a cultural background of famous composers, musicians, painters, sculpturers, and architects inspired the development of a modern European city which is attractive to people from all over the world. Contemporary as well as performing art is lively in the various districts of Vienna.
The Vienna Medical School has spread its seeds to many scientific research laboratories and medical facilities; the following famous researchers could be named – Billroth, Helmholtz, Wagner-Jauregg, Wertheim, Landsteiner, Wenckebach. The modern Medical University, affiliated and competing research institutes and hospitals are striving to extend far beyond their historical background.
The Messe Wien Exhibition & Congress Center, one of the most modern facilities in Europe and easily accessible by public transportation, will serve as the Meeting venue. The event will begin on Monday 15 September and end on Friday 19 September 2014.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Vienna, in a city and a country well known for its hospitable atmosphere.
