The webcast, news and pictures of the conference are now available online.

We can look back on a successful meeting with 268 attendees from 33 different countries.

50 abstracts were accepted and 30 posters presented.

The theme of this year’s conference was “The role of primary care in the world of diabetes”. There was a broad interest from the international primary care community and of the submissions, fifty abstracts were accepted. The top five were invited for oral presentation, thirty were presented during poster walk sessions and 15 posters were displayed on the e-poster panels during the conference. The submitted abstracts dealt with a broad range of relevant topics like quality of care, lifestyle, prevention and treatment.

The scientific program hosted eminent speakers like Kamlesh Khunti, Guy Rutten, Cliff Bailey, Gerard Reach addressing hot topics like clinical inertia and new developments in diabetes therapy presented by leading experts in the field, as well as, the “classic” PCDE highlights like the Rising Star Session where Dr Benhalima from Belgium updated the audience about the latest evidence on screening for gestational diabetes in primary care and the Paul Cromme lecture where Professor Andrew Boulton gave an excellent update on the management of the diabetic foot. The EASD PCDE Study group session provided an update on ongoing diabetes research projects in European primary care which was received with much interest.

The success of this meeting could not have been achieved without your participation and active involvement, for which we once again would like to thank you. We hope you enjoyed the meeting as much as we did and that it is a good reason for you to attend more PCDE meetings.

Yours Sincerely,

Dr. Xavier Cos
Chairman PCDE
