Procedure for funding application
The following criteria have been agreed for any research proposal seeking funding from PCD Europe.
- The application form will contain the following sections:
- Background
- Selected and commented bibliographical references
- Aims
- Methods
- Dissemination of the results and further development
- Budget plan and justification
- Time table
- Curriculum vitae of project leader and co investigators
- Letter of approval by ethical committee (if necessary)
- An abstract of the project will presented to a PCD Europe Conference
- The results will be submitted within 2 years of the presentation to PCD Europe if the project is selected for funding
- In all derivative papers of this research study a note of acknowledgement will be written mentioning the financing granted by the PCD Europe.

Criteria for selection will include:
- Project feasibility
- The research question should be outlined in a clear way, with 3 elements: patient, intervention o problem, results
- Project design. The appropriate design is important:
- cross sectional for diagnostic test validation,
- randomized controlled trial for interventions (therapeutic o preventive interventions)
- cohort study for prognostic studies
- Quality of research proposal
- Interest for primary care diabetes
- Priority will be given to multinational projects
The selection committee can:
- approve the proposal for funding
- suggest revision and resubmission
- reject the proposal
