Procedure for funding application

The following criteria have been agreed for any research proposal seeking funding from PCD Europe.

1. The application form will contain the following sections:
   • Background
   • Selected and commented bibliographical references
   • Aims
   • Methods
   • Dissemination of the results and further development
   • Budget plan and justification
   • Time table
   • Curriculum vitae of project leader and co investigators
   • Letter of approval by ethical committee (if necessary) 
2. An abstract of the project will presented to a PCD Europe Conference
3. The results will be submitted within 2 years of the presentation to PCD Europe if the project is selected for funding   
4. In all derivative papers of this research study a note of acknowledgement will be written mentioning the financing granted by the PCD Europe.

Criteria for selection will include:

• Project feasibility
• The research question should be outlined in a clear way, with 3 elements: patient, intervention o problem, results
• Project design. The appropriate design is important:
  • cross sectional for diagnostic test validation, 
  • randomized controlled trial for interventions (therapeutic o preventive interventions) 
  • cohort study for prognostic studies
• Quality of research proposal
• Interest for primary care diabetes
• Priority will be given to multinational projects

The selection committee can:

• approve the proposal for funding
• suggest revision and resubmission
• reject the proposal
