Mrs. Lena Insulander (Communications)

Lena Insulander works as diabetes specialised nurse in primary care in Stockholm since 1986. She works at Stockholm County Council Diabetes Teaching Center, LUCD and the work is divided into teaching, research and clinical work. LUCD provide primary care with knowledge in diabetes. LUCD also help the primary health care centres to structure their diabetes care and to do quality assessments.

Her main interests in diabetes are blood glucose measurements and life style changes. She has done teaching materials and gives lectures in these topics.

At LUCD she is involved in the course Learning for Life witch is based on empowerment and were the participants practice consultations skills through video recordings.  She is involved in creating national and local guidelines and recommendations both in diabetes but also in obesity.

She has been involved in Primary Care Diabetes Europe from the start in 1995. During a period of 5 years she was the treasurer (1999-2004). Currently she is responsible for the PCD Newsletter. To work on an international level has increased her knowledge in all aspects of diabetes but it has also given her lots of good frends.
