Prof. Dr. Guy E.H.M. Rutten has been working since 1982 as a general practitioner in a group practice in Beuningen. He defended his PhD thesis on diabetes care in 1989. Prof. Dr.Guy Rutten was head of the Department of Guidelines development of the Dutch College of GP’s from 1989-1991. In 1998 he was appointed as Professor of Diabetology in Primary Care at the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care of the University Medical Center Utrecht. Up to now he has continued working as a GP in his practice two days per week.
His research activities focus on diabetes and infections, diabetes and cardiovascular complications and diabetes primary care. He is (co-)author of more than 60 original articles in (inter)national peer reviewed journals, wrote more than 60 reviewing articles and chapters in textbooks and wrote or edited books on Guidelines, the Patient-Physician-Relationship, Diabetes in Primary Care and the Medical Process as well.
He is chair of the Dutch General Practice Diabetes Advisory Group, which he founded, and member of the EASD Postgraduate Committee. He chairs the EASD Study Group on Primary Care Research in Diabetology, and is Editor-in-chief of Primary Care Diabetes. |
