BACKGROUND
PCDE was officially established in Lisbon in 1996 as the St. Vincent Declaration Primary Care Diabetes Group. In 2001 the organisation became independent and changed its name to Primary Care Diabetes Europe. Our membership has grown exponentially and is around 4000 members, although with the expected addition of new members from several countries, it is expected to climb significantly.
PCDE is led by the Committee, which is a working group consisting of around 10 people with a multidisciplinary background from all over Europe.
Conferences PCD Europe has organised 9 international conferences since 1996 and we’ve started planning for our 10th to be held in 2008.
Euradia In 2005, PCDE became a member of Euradia. We will continue to support this organisation and to lobby for increased funding for research into diabetes in the Primary Care setting.
The future PCDE is now firmly established as an enduring and powerful advocate of health care professionals working in diabetes care across the 25 member states of the EU. Through our conference, publishing and research activities, we wish to continue our growth and development. In partnership with other organisations, we will continue to work to create a better future for people with diabetes and those who care for them. |
